Welcome to BRAVE
My name is Katia Shields, and I am dedicated to helping children build their confidence, develop essential life skills, and unlock their full potential.
With over 10 years of classroom teaching experience, I have navigated the challenges that children face each day, understanding their unique needs and nurturing their growth. But my journey in education goes beyond the traditional classroom setting. From a young age, I took Speech and Drama lessons, earning my ATCL Trinity College London qualification. This early exposure instilled in me the power of effective communication, building relationships, and the rewards that come from taking risks and working hard.
Over the course of 12 years, I have assisted children in building their confidence through drama and speech-making, enabling them to express themselves creatively and effectively.
Another of my passions is Physical Education and sport. Over the years I have coached various sports, including Touch Rugby, Squash, Rugby, and Tennis, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact that physical activity can have on a child's self-esteem and overall well-being. I have served as the lead teacher in Physical Education for several years in schools, ensuring that children have the solid foundations to participate in physical activities and excel in their chosen sports.
At BRAVE, I believe that children learn best from their peers and their environment. As a teacher and coach, my role is to empower children, constantly modelling what success looks like and creating a positive and engaging learning environment. By fostering interaction and peer learning, I encourage children to learn from one another and develop essential skills such as effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
I am excited to embark on this journey with your child, providing them with a nurturing and empowering experience through drama and sports. Together, we will build their confidence, unleash their creativity, and equip them with the skills they need to thrive.
